Urgent Call to Action

Dear Fellow Massage Therapist,

GREAT NEWS FOR TODAY! A motion was made to Recommit Bill 7007A!

Definition: A procedure whereby a bill is referred back to a standing or conference committee for further consideration.  A bill May be re-committed at any time, usually on second or third reading. Re-commitment of bills can be used to kill a bill during the final days of the session.

We will plan our action based on the Senate committee agenda.  We should ALL plan to attend the meeting at the State House on 3/31/16.  Please wear/borrow a RI Massage Therapy shirt/scrubs, if possible, or wear appropriate business attire.  If you are joining us from another state, or If you are a client/licensed massage therapy supporter, we welcome you.

Please Note:
The protocol to go is to call the clerk (Robin Dionne 222-2381) and advise her that you will be attending.  Upon entering the building, the sheriff will direct people to the clerk and you will sign in for the committee meeting.  People will be allowed to observe, testify, etc.  You may submit written correspondence if you choose to not verbally testify, which will be submitted to the committee to be included in the minutes.  Committee hearings usually start around 4:30.  Please arrive at 4:00.

Our fight may not be finished yet, but we have a lot to be thankful for so far… Please join me in thanking Joanne Lozy, Government Relations chair,  for the endless hours of emails, texts, phone calls, both at the national level and state  government level, as well as Donna Tschuta, our petition writer, for all of her research and reporting to our members.  You both played vital roles in this process and have worked so hard to represent and protect our profession.

Please sign the petition if you have not already done so.  Feel free to share with everyone!

See you all Thursday.

Please contact Joanne Lozy.  If you plan on speaking on Thursday.

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
