Introduction to Cupping @ The Village at Waterman Lake
Nov 10 @ 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

Cupping therapy, commonly referred to as “cupping”, has been used therapeutically for thousands of years.  The roots of cupping can be traced back to early Egypt, Greece, and throughout European and Asian civilization.   Cupping has shown to increase ROM and local circulation, decrease pain, and create ease in the body. During this 6 hour course, attendees will learn:

  • The history of cupping
  • How to approach a client about receiving cupping
  • Cupping aftercare for the client
  • The indications and contraindications of cupping
  • How to care for your cups
  • The difference between using the cups as a stationary tool, and sliding the cups to work the fascia and soft tissues of the body
  • How to integrate this bodywork modality into a massage session, while staying within our scope of practice.

We will examine and show applications of various styles of cups including glass, acrylic, and silicone cups.  Attendees will be able to observe various applications of cupping as well as practice with partners to learn the differences between lighter and deeper cupping applications.  Fire cupping will be discussed, but not performed during this class.

*Massage tables, linens, lubricant for the skin, and cups are required for this course.  (Do not bring glass fire cups)

PNMT for the Hip @ The Village at Waterman Lake
Dec 1 @ 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

PNMT for the Lower Leg and Hip can be taken together or separately.  Please see the flyer for additional information.

The vital role of the hip as a source of pain and its role in healthy movement is often overlooked. Issues of the hip may present local pain but can also greatly effect areas both above and below. For instance, restrictions in the hip demand that the low back compensate, leading to low back pain. Treatment of the low back (where the symptoms present) will be frustratingly unsuccessful. It is not uncommon to have hip pain where no visible pathology is discovered, precise soft tissue approaches can be amazingly effective. The focus of this seminar is on accurate assessment strategies and effective treatment techniques to help you treat the right structure for the right reason. We don’t just teach you how, we teach you why!

PNMT for the Legs and Feet @ The Village at Waterman Lake
Dec 2 @ 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

PNMT of the Hip and PNMT of the Legs and Feet can be taken separately or together.  Please see flyer for more information.

The lower extremity is clearly the unsung hero of the body, doing amazing amounts of work that largely goes unnoticed. When pain does occur, many soft-tissue problems present with the same symptoms as more serious intra-joint ligamentous issues. Whether in the knee or the foot, it is largely assumed that these problems are more serious than can be helped with soft tissue therapy.

For example, there are many soft-tissue conditions that create medial and lateral knee pain, all of them related to different muscles and ligaments. Participants will learn how to make good judgments as to the source of the pain and how to address it effectively. In the lower leg, conditions affecting the anterior and posterior shin splints, calf pain, and pain syndromes of the feet (such as plantar fasciitis and fasciosis) will be explored. The participant will leave with clear clinical reasoning skills to determine the source of a client’s pain and the technical skills to positively affect that pain.
