The American Massage Therapy Association, founded in 1943, is the largest and oldest national organiza-
tion representing the massage therapy profession. AMTA membership is limited to massage therapists who
have demonstrated a certain level of skill and expertise through testing and/or education. All AMTA thera-
pists must agree to abide by the AMTA Code of Ethics.

The mission of the American Massage Therapy Association is to serve AMTA members while advancing the
art, science and practice of massage therapy.
